How many Fire Extinguishers should I have in my premises?
According to the regulations set out in BS 5306, it is recommended that a minimum number of fire extinguishers should be provided based on the size of the floor area being protected. These guidelines are as follows:
- At least one 13A rated fire extinguisher for every 200 square meters of floor area.
- Not less than two 13A rated fire extinguishers per floor.
- Distribute fire extinguishers so that no one needs to travel more than 30 meters to reach one.
- Provide additional, suitable fire extinguishers for special fire hazards such as electrical equipment, flammable liquids, and flammable gases.
